Opportunity/Context
Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice, a key cultural institution attracting nearly 400,000 visitors annually, sought to modernise visitor engagement by offering an enhanced audio guide experience. In a competitive tender pre-pandemic, Marsilio Arte was selected to deliver the project and chose Vox to partner on the creation of exclusive audioguide content and multimedia solutions. The museum aimed to upsell premium visitor services while offering engaging experiences for all ages, particularly targeting families and younger visitors.
Solution/Outcome
Working closely with Marsilio Arte, Vox supplied the Gallerie dell'Accademia with 120 Vox multimedia devices pre-installed with the fully customised POPGuide Museum app. Featuring multilingual commentary downloads, audio-visual content, interactive maps, and a treasure hunt aimed at children, the app created an engaging and personalised visitor journey. With seamless upselling at the ticket office and rich content exclusive to the venue, the audioguide became a popular choice among visitors. The solution provided valuable insights through detailed usage statistics, enhancing customer engagement and tailoring future experiences.
The Result
With guides speaking into a Vox transmitter pre-set to its own unique frequency, voice commentary was clearly heard by passengers within a 200-metre radius, allowing each tour to flow in a fluid motion and removing the need for the guides to raise their voice. Princess Cruises and their passengers were highly satisfied with their Kirkwall experience. With this increase in customer satisfaction Prince Cruises decided to include Vox Tour Guide Systems in their 2018 UK programme. European Cruise Service now have included the Vox Tour Guide System as an inexpensive, added-value option to complement any future client shore excursion programmes.
