Voyages Ayers Rock Resort hosts the spectacular and deeply meaningful Wintjiri Wiru laser and drone show at Uluru during sunset. This immersive event narrates the captivating story of the local indigenous culture, presented in English and the indigenous language through the outdoor PA system. However, many international guests found it challenging to fully appreciate the narrative due to language barriers, limiting their ability to engage with the story's rich context and meaning. The resort sought an innovative solution to enhance customer engagement by providing a multilingual experience that would allow overseas visitors to connect deeply with the event.
Solution/Outcome
Vox Group collaborated with Voyages Ayers Rock Resort to deliver an added value service that transformed the Wintjiri Wiru experience for international guests. By translating the story into six additional languages, Vox provided a hybrid solution combining Android technology with radio transmitters and receivers. Upon entry, overseas guests receive a Vox radio receiver with a personal earpiece. The multilingual audio is triggered from MP3 players simultaneously with the English and indigenous narrations. A bank of transmitters broadcasts the translated commentaries directly to the receivers of the audience. This innovative approach allows participants to see and hear the show and its sound effects while enjoying the commentary in their own language, undisturbed by the ambient noise of the PA system. By offering this extra product, Voyages Ayers Rock Resort significantly enhanced customer engagement, enabling guests from around the world to experience the event to its fullest. The partnership with Vox Group not only added substantial value to the guests' experience but also reinforced the resort's commitment to cultural inclusivity and exceptional service.
The Result
With guides speaking into a Vox transmitter pre-set to its own unique frequency, voice commentary was clearly heard by passengers within a 200-metre radius, allowing each tour to flow in a fluid motion and removing the need for the guides to raise their voice. Princess Cruises and their passengers were highly satisfied with their Kirkwall experience. With this increase in customer satisfaction Prince Cruises decided to include Vox Tour Guide Systems in their 2018 UK programme. European Cruise Service now have included the Vox Tour Guide System as an inexpensive, added-value option to complement any future client shore excursion programmes.
