Gladiator Tours, based in Rome, specializes in providing immersive tours of Rome and Ostia Antica, as well as tickets to iconic landmarks like the Colosseum and the Pantheon. Aiming to propose a new product to their clients, they sought an innovative solution to enhance the visitor experience at the Colosseum. The goal was to add value to their existing offerings and find an effective way to upsell additional services, particularly for clients visiting the archaeological sites.
Solution/Outcome
Vox Group partnered with Gladiator Tours to integrate their POPGuide technology into the tour operator's services. Vox provided pre-populated POPGuide maps of Rome and Ostia Antica, allowing visitors to explore these cities with rich audio content and navigable mapping. For the Colosseum, Vox supplied an interior map that functions as an audio guide for the archaeological area, offering exclusive content that deepens the visitor's understanding and engagement.
Gladiator Tours opted for a monthly flat-rate model for the use of the Rome map, receiving a QR code with their required number of accesses. Additionally, they were empowered to create additional codes for the Colosseum audioguide directly through the POPGuide backend system. This flexibility enabled them to offer the audioguide as an extra product, effectively upselling to their clients and enhancing the overall package value.
By incorporating Vox Group's POPGuide, Gladiator Tours provided added value to their customers through enriched touring experiences featuring detailed audio commentary and seamless navigation. This partnership not only increased their revenue streams through upselling but also set them apart in a competitive market by offering unique, high-quality services. The Result
With guides speaking into a Vox transmitter pre-set to its own unique frequency, voice commentary was clearly heard by passengers within a 200-metre radius, allowing each tour to flow in a fluid motion and removing the need for the guides to raise their voice. Princess Cruises and their passengers were highly satisfied with their Kirkwall experience. With this increase in customer satisfaction Prince Cruises decided to include Vox Tour Guide Systems in their 2018 UK programme. European Cruise Service now have included the Vox Tour Guide System as an inexpensive, added-value option to complement any future client shore excursion programmes.
