Opportunity/Context
IFTM-Top Resa, the premier International & French Travel Show in Paris, is more than just a trade show—it's a dynamic international platform that brings together the most creative minds, innovators, and industry leaders in the travel industry. Amid the vibrant atmosphere, the organizers faced a significant challenge: the ambient noise typical of trade shows was interfering with presentations and seminars, making it difficult for speakers to reach all participants effectively. With a large number of attendees and a desire to offer added value services in the competitive MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector, they sought a solution to eliminate background noise and enhance customer engagement during speeches and conferences. They also needed to facilitate live translation for international delegates and create silent seminars that would allow attendees to focus fully on the content being delivered.
Solution/Outcome
Vox Group proposed an innovative solution to transform the conference experience at IFTM-Top Resa. In 2023, they provided approximately 300 Vox VDR radios for two conferences that required live translation, as well as for guided tours of the trade show with journalists. The use of these advanced radio guides effectively eliminated ambient noise, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the presentations without distractions. The success of this initial implementation demonstrated the significant added value that Vox's technology brought to the event. Impressed by the results, the organizers expanded the partnership in 2024. Vox Group supplied nearly 4,000 VDR Microguide units to cover the entire schedule of conferences throughout the trade show. This allowed all participants—not just those attending translated sessions—to benefit from the silent seminar experience. Attendees received personal radio receivers and earpieces, enabling them to hear speakers clearly despite the surrounding noise of the bustling exhibition hall. This enhancement significantly improved customer engagement, as attendees could now fully concentrate on the content being presented. Vox Group also equipped participants and guests of the Tourism Minister of Egypt during his conference with journalists, ensuring seamless communication and translation services. Additionally, all guided visits of the trade show were conducted using the VDR Micro units, providing a consistent and high-quality experience for all attendees. Recognizing the immense benefits, IFTM-Top Resa has already contracted Vox Group for the 2025 event, including support for an additional series of mini-conferences. To further solidify this successful collaboration, Vox has initiated an ongoing team-building exercise between their technicians and the show's management team. This partnership not only enhances the upcoming trade show but also extends support to other events organized by the same client, RX Expo. By integrating Vox Group's cutting-edge technology, IFTM-Top Resa has set a new standard for trade show conferences in the MICE industry. The use of silent seminars and live translation services has provided an exceptional added value service that distinguishes the event from its competitors. Attendees now enjoy a more immersive and engaging experience, free from the distractions of ambient noise, which has significantly enhanced the overall quality and reputation of the trade show.
The Result
With guides speaking into a Vox transmitter pre-set to its own unique frequency, voice commentary was clearly heard by passengers within a 200-metre radius, allowing each tour to flow in a fluid motion and removing the need for the guides to raise their voice. Princess Cruises and their passengers were highly satisfied with their Kirkwall experience. With this increase in customer satisfaction Prince Cruises decided to include Vox Tour Guide Systems in their 2018 UK programme. European Cruise Service now have included the Vox Tour Guide System as an inexpensive, added-value option to complement any future client shore excursion programmes.
