Opportunity/Context
Naturanda, an expert in guided tours and day trips from Seville and Madrid, prides itself on offering authentic and immersive experiences. From Tangier in Morocco to Córdoba, Granada, Gibraltar, Ronda, and beyond, Naturanda’s portfolio caters to travellers seeking rich cultural insights. Recognising the growing appetite for culinary exploration, Naturanda aimed to expand their offerings to include a vibrant, flexible food experience in the heart of Madrid. They wanted a paper-less, voucher-free, solution that would allow guests to discover local gastronomy at their own pace, delving into Spain’s renowned tapas culture and unlocking authentic flavours that go far beyond traditional guided tours.
Solution/Outcome
Collaborating closely with Vox Group, Naturanda harnessed the capabilities of the POPGuide technology to develop a unique Self-Guided Tapas Tour, complete with food tastings and drinks at each establishment. Using POPGuide’s intuitive, smartphone-based platform, Naturanda curated a route through select local taverns, bars, and eateries that epitomise Spain’s culinary heritage. This innovative approach enhanced the package value, providing an added value service that guests could enjoy independently. The content—rich in insider tips, stories, and tasting notes—was meticulously crafted and integrated into POPGuide. The audio commentary and geotagged points of interest, available in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German, allowed travellers to navigate easily, learn about the history and tradition behind each dish, and discover hidden gems. This extra product significantly increased customer engagement, enabling travellers to sample tapas and wines at their own speed and create a personal gastronomic journey that reflected their individual tastes and interests. Users receive a QR code from Naturanda, generated through Vox’s Wave backend technology. This code is dual purpose—it allows them to download the POPGuide software and the experience’s contents to their smartphone, as well as validate their tapas tastings at each venue. All the restaurateur has to do is scan the QR code with the Vox WaveScan app and serve their valued guest. With multilingual audio guiding the experience, language barriers simply melt away. By adopting Vox Group’s technology, Naturanda transformed a traditional culinary outing into a fully immersive cultural experience. The Self-Guided Tapas Tour enriched Naturanda’s offering, setting them apart as a forward-thinking operator committed to authenticity and innovation. Now, visitors to Madrid can savour the city’s flavours with enhanced freedom, guidance, and a deeper connection to the stories behind each bite.
The Result
With guides speaking into a Vox transmitter pre-set to its own unique frequency, voice commentary was clearly heard by passengers within a 200-metre radius, allowing each tour to flow in a fluid motion and removing the need for the guides to raise their voice. Princess Cruises and their passengers were highly satisfied with their Kirkwall experience. With this increase in customer satisfaction Prince Cruises decided to include Vox Tour Guide Systems in their 2018 UK programme. European Cruise Service now have included the Vox Tour Guide System as an inexpensive, added-value option to complement any future client shore excursion programmes.
