Opportunity/Context
Captain Cook Cruises, a premier operator on Sydney Harbour, faced the challenge of providing informative sightseeing commentary in seven languages without disrupting the onboard experience, which includes dining, bars, and musical entertainment. Traditional live guiding through the ship's PA system was intrusive and unsuitable for the diverse offerings on board. The company needed a solution that would enrich the cruise experience while allowing guests to engage at their own pace.
Solution/Outcome
Vox collaborated with Captain Cook Cruises to develop a unique POPGuide cruise map, featuring various cruise routes with GPS-triggered points of interest (POIs) in the guests' language of choice, delivered directly to their devices. This innovative solution allowed passengers to enjoy exclusive content and insightful commentary without interrupting the relaxed atmosphere on board. Additionally, Vox crafted a walking tour from Sydney Harbour as an added value service, further enhancing the overall experience for guests. This approach not only promoted customer engagement but also reinforced Captain Cook Cruises' strong value-add message, offering guests the flexibility to choose whether to engage with the content or simply relax and enjoy their time on the harbour.
The Result
With guides speaking into a Vox transmitter pre-set to its own unique frequency, voice commentary was clearly heard by passengers within a 200-metre radius, allowing each tour to flow in a fluid motion and removing the need for the guides to raise their voice. Princess Cruises and their passengers were highly satisfied with their Kirkwall experience. With this increase in customer satisfaction Prince Cruises decided to include Vox Tour Guide Systems in their 2018 UK programme. European Cruise Service now have included the Vox Tour Guide System as an inexpensive, added-value option to complement any future client shore excursion programmes.
